Early Orthodontics care

Early orthodontic treatment for children would prevent any complications in the future when their permanent teeth start growing. This is why the American Association of Orthodontics recommends that parents should take their children for their first orthodontic visit at the age of seven. This allows us to closely monitor the growth of your child’s permanent teeth and considerably reduce the chances of developing malocclusion.

Dr. Hesham Amer has successfully treated numerous young patients over his long-spanning career and made sure they got the required orthodontic attention at the right time. Our staff at Bay Area Smiles is well-trained and experienced to handle patients belonging to all age groups.

Why is early orthodontic care necessary?

Getting the right orthodontic care at the right time is necessary to avoid misaligned growth of the teeth. Your child’s first orthodontic consultation should take place at the age of seven. This allows us to carefully evaluate their condition and determine whether or not orthodontic treatment is required. In case it is needed, we would suggest the right solution to it, monitor the growth of the teeth during the treatment period and make sure your child gets a perfect 10-tooth smile.

Signs to check for possible malocclusion

  • Mouth breathing
  • Excessive or prolonged thumb sucking
  • Difficulty in biting and chewing food
  • If the falling off of milk teeth is either too soon or too late
  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • Hearing a popping or clicking sound while moving the jaw
  • Protruding teeth either from the upper or the lower jaw
  • Teeth that don’t come together when the jaws close
  • Speech impediments

How will early orthodontic care benefit your child?

When you bring your child for orthodontic screenings at the right time, we can carefully analyze the possible causes of malocclusion and suggest the right treatment to help them overcome it. Issues such as excessive spacing between the teeth, crowding of teeth, jaw growth problems, bad bite issues, protruding of the teeth, untimely loss of milk teeth, prolonged thumb sucking, etc. can be treated.

Dentists agree to the fact that early orthodontic treatment can produce better results and makes it easier to move the teeth to their desired positions. Also, they would stay in their new places without drifting back to their previous alignment.

Our excellent team at Bay Area Smiles will discuss the best treatment method to help your child get perfectly aligned teeth. Call us or schedule an online appointment to reach out to them.
